Hi everyone! Welcome back to Contrivance, the art magazine for students. I promise, we will soon stop reminding you who we are and what we do.
Just a quick update from us, we are in search of your art skills. We want to have your work featured on our blog. No matter the medium or theme, we want to display your films, paintings, sketches, photographs and anything else you may have. Written a poem? we want to feature that too! Who knows, if you impress us enough - we might consider your work for the magazine or even inviting you to join our creative team!
Whilst we are on the topic of our creative team...I think we should introduce you to some of our artists from Volume One.
Meet Scott Taylor! He is a key foundation to Contrivance Magazine alongside myself (Adam Billings). Not only did he come up with our name but he also is an amazing hype guy! He had an input
in every step of Vol.1, as well as being extremely talented.
I am currently studying a BA in Photography at Arts University Bournemouth. Photography and art has always been a massive part of my life. Recently I have become interested in combining photographic and art techniques together to blur the line between both. - Scott Taylor (@scotttaylorphotos on instagram)
Amy Davenhill, another backbone to this magazine. From the beginning concepts of Contrivance, Amy has provided amazing feedback on page layouts and let her voice be heard on how she wants her work displayed.
Graduating with a BA in Animation at Norwich University of the Arts, I specialised in Stop Motion. My work allows me to show what I can do in a creative way looking at more of a traditional form of Animation. With a passion for design, I love to make my creations come to life in a way that all audiences can enjoy in various forms including painting, illustrating and animation. - Amy Davenhill (@amydavo_art on instagram)
Autumn Cherie, an amazing support system throughout this project. Providing me with feedback and also setting up some awesome upcoming meetings for us. Like all of our artists, Autumn has also been in full control of what she would like to see on her pages - from the layout to the images used within.
A recent graduate of Ba Animation specialising in stop motion fabrication and has a passion for inclusive work benefitting the community. My work is inspired by raising awareness for unspoken topics as well as showcasing various forms of art in photography, illustration and animation. - Autumn Cherie (@cherie_studios on Instagram)
Our artists are something we at Contrivance are very proud of, both Amy and Autumn will be graduating Norwich University of The Arts next month. We are excited for their futures in the creative industry. Me and Scott still have a little way to go until we graduate but I am so excited to see what our futures hold within the photographic industry.
We are excited to meet new artists and be part of your creative futures. So to submit some work for our website then drop us an email - submissions@contrivancemagazine.co.uk
Submissions for Volume Two will be opening shortly and don't worry, having work on the website won't affect your chances of being in the magazine. We will be revealing the theme very shortly along with some more information about what we will need from you.
That is all we have for now, go get your work submitted and we will make sure to feature as many as we can!
Contrivance.
