Emily Silkstone, Marine & Natural History Photographer at Falmouth University.
'I’ve never been any good at setting up backgrounds, composing outfits, or directing the perfect pose. In fact, I can hardly take a selfie without it seeming forced.'
'Commercial photography was never my thing - I was always more drawn to natural subject matters, fascinated by their raw charm and complexity. I think wildlife intrigues us all, whether we’re frightened or excited by it, and it’s fun to provoke these emotions through photography.'
'Plus, who doesn’t enjoy a walk through a forest or a stroll along the beach? Art is an amazing excuse to explore the natural world.' (Emily Silkstone)
The skillset shown within this work from Emily is crazy! I know that I struggle with creating perfect reflections such as these. She really has an eye for making a landscape which can sometimes be mundane, look fascinating with skills such as leading line, golden ratio and the rule of thirds. These fundamental skills are something all photographers learn from early on and as you can see, it really pays off to nail them.
