Back at the start of July 2022, I had the pleasure to photograph my first fashion show! The show run by Becci and sponsored by SHEIN, took place on July 9th at St. Marys Works in Norwich and featured Becci and many other up coming designers work.
The amount of work put into this show was insane. From makeup artists to stylists and designers. Becci had an amazing team of people around her who carried out an amazing evening. Many other talented photographers were also on hand, of which you can find on Instagram @beccifashion.
For me, this was such a surreal experience. To date, I have only photographed one other event. Which I personally feel is very noticeable within my works from this shoot. I am happy with the outcomes and how much I have grown since my first event. However, I know that I still have so much more to learn.
My fear when photographing events lies with what the lighting will be like. And unfortunately, in my experience it seems there is minimal lighting. Which then means, upping the ISO but by doing this too much it starts to create a grainy image which is what happened within this shoot.
However, I felt it work with my vintage aesthetic that I like to create within certain styles of shoots. When editing I added a touch more grain and some vignetting around the corners to allow the colours to pop. Personally, I heavily focus on colours. I digitally enhance them so these areas of focus can pop. By adding this grain and vignetting, it makes the photograph feel light and airy. Allowing for the focus to stand out.
One of the very talented designers who had work showcased was recent NUA graduate Grace Bridges. Grace is my second-cousin and so I am very proud of how far she has come, she has been through so much these last few years at university and her work is phenomenal. The concept behind her designs was focused upon different disorders such as anxiety and depression. To find out more, go check out her work @Graceannadesigns on Instagram!
Within the coming weeks we will be having a further chat with Becci about her work and how she came to work with SHEIN. But for now that's all from us!
